The Team
The 3B Team have been designing and constructing Skateboard ramps for over 30 years.
The team of builders includes sponsored riders with years of experience between them.
John Matten was the 70s UK senior skateboard champion, riding with the UK Team. Paul Matten has been skateboarding for over 30 years and is a mountain boarding instructor and a snowboarder.
Jason Matten is at the forefront of the PARKOUR movement (similar to free running), is the director of Trace Group and Trace Clothing (tracehq.com) and is a skateboarder and snowboarder.
In the 80s Paul and John took Rodney Mullen and other pro riders on a Converse shoes sponsored tour around the UK.
They designed and constructed Crawley and Horsham Skate Parks, as well as Skate Parks and Ramps for many other Borough and Parish Councils. They have also designed and constructed private ramps all over the U.K.
References from previous customers are available. Many of them have offered to speak to anyone who is thinking of having a ramp constructed by the 3B Team.
3B Ramps are a professional team, proud of what they do. Their ramps are well designed, fun to ride and built to last.
Technical details:
It is important to note that 3B ramps are stronger and longer lasting because of the following points:
Every beam is pressure treated.
The beams under the riding surface are only 15.875cm apart (6”).
The riding surfaces and platforms are 27mm (over 1”) thick.
All riding surfaces are made up of three 9mm layers of overlapped plywood.
Each layer of hig-quality marine plywood is treated with two coats of wood preserve.
The first two overlapped undersheets are also of marine ply quality.
All the edges and corners of the ramps are sanded down for a smooth finish.
We use much more plywood and beams under the ramps than our competitors so that they last a lot longer. Our transition sections (underneath the ramp) are now only 1.524m (5ft) wide, as the more usual 8ft or 10ft sections tend to cause problems in the long term, with ramps ‘sagging’ underneath the surface.
We have constructed the new half pipe at Horsham using the 5ft section method as well as the very popular jump box at the new Crawley Skate Park. The riders say it is one of the fastest and most solid ramps they have ever ridden. As far as we are aware, we are the only company that construct skate ramps using this method of construction.
All our coping is made of galvanized steel, including the new end caps. (End caps are requested by ROSPA.)
All nails are sheradized annular ring nails (anti corrosion).
All riding surface screws are anti-corrosion.
Every single screw used on riding surfaces is countersunk.
Our construction methods mean that our ramps are safe, fast, strong and long lasting.
Our designs mean that our ramps are unique, built to the given environment, interesting, and the main thing; fun!
